You know you would benefit from therapy. You can feel that truth somewhere inside you. But when you think about actually going, it feels like there’s too much to say, too much to share, too much to feel, and not enough time in a session to hold it all.

You imagine sitting down and trying to begin, and it already feels overwhelming. Where would you even start? How do you choose what gets said and what stays unsaid? What do you do when there’s so much to share and no words to use? There’s a sense that everything matters, that all of it is connected, and that trying to fit it into a single hour feels impossible.

The thought of stopping and restarting feels just as heavy. You picture opening something important and then having to pause because time is up. You imagine carrying the weight of what’s been said in between sessions, holding it on your own again, waiting for the next time you can pick it back up. That feels like too much.

It’s not just about talking. It’s about what comes up when you do. The feelings, the memories, the sensations in your body. There’s a knowing that once you start, it won’t be small. And trying to contain all of that in structured, limited space feels overwhelming.

Part of you wants support. Part of you knows you don’t have to keep holding this alone. At the same time, the way therapy is usually set up, week by week, start and stop, talk and pause, doesn’t quite match the depth of what you’re carrying.

This is where Brainspotting intensive therapy can help.

A Different Way to Do Therapy

Traditional weekly therapy can be helpful, but it is not always designed for the depth of what you are holding.

A Brainspotting intensive gives you something different, time, space, and continuity.

Instead of trying to fit everything into a 50 minute session, we create extended time together so you can settle in, begin where you are, and stay with what comes up. You do not have to rush to the most important part. You do not have to hold things back because the session is ending.

You are not starting over each week. You are not picking up and putting down something heavy again and again.

You get to stay with it.

When Words are Not Enough

You may already sense that talking alone does not reach everything.

Some experiences live in your body. They show up as tightness, heaviness, restlessness, or a sense that something is stuck but hard to explain. Some memories do not come as clear stories. They come as feelings, flashes, or sensations that do not always have words.

Brainspotting works with that.

It allows us to gently access and process what is held beneath the surface, without needing you to explain everything perfectly. You do not have to organize your story before you begin. You can start with what you feel, even if it does not make sense yet.

Staying with the Process, Not Interrupting It

One of the hardest parts of weekly therapy can be the stopping.

Just as something begins to open, time is up. You gather yourself and step back into your life while something inside you is still moving.

In a Brainspotting intensive, we allow for a fuller arc.

There is time to open, time to process, and time to come back to a sense of steadiness before you leave. You are supported through the entire experience, not just the beginning of it.

A Brainspotting intensive is not about pushing everything out at once. It is about creating a space where your system can begin to process what is ready, at a pace that feels manageable, with support alongside you.

Frequently Asked Questions About Brainspotting Intensives in Grand Rapids

  • A Brainspotting intensive is an extended therapy session designed to give you more time and space than traditional weekly therapy. It allows you to stay with your process without interruption and work through deeper layers at your own pace.

  • Weekly therapy often involves starting and stopping each session, which can feel limiting when you have a lot to process. Intensives offer longer, uninterrupted time so you can go deeper without having to pause just as things begin to open.

    • You’d like to enhance your therapy experiences by adding on an intensive, working through the issues that still feel stuck

    • You don’t have time to engage in ongoing weekly sessions and want to capitalize your time and experience healing more quickly

    • You desire accelerated healing

  • No. You can begin with a general sense of feeling overwhelmed or stuck. Brainspotting allows us to follow what emerges, even if you do not have clear words or a structured story.

  • That is a valid concern. The pace of a Brainspotting intensive is guided carefully, with attention to your nervous system. We will slow down when needed and make sure you feel supported throughout the process.

  • Some people experience relief after an intensive, while others notice changes unfolding over time. The goal is not instant results, but meaningful processing that supports longer term healing.
